Staying in Provence: My Favourite Accommodations

Provence Stay:

Provence's allure comes as much from its quiet landscapes as from the ancient, simple yet charming countryside architecture. Surrounded by cypress trees, lavender fields, and offering views over the picturesque Provençal villages, these hotels will surely inspire you to plan your trip to this fascinating region straight away.

Right outside the village of Bonnieux stands a quiet escape called Capelongue, with astonishing views over the hills of the Petit Luberon and the village rooftops. With 57 spacious and light-filled suites scattered across its different buildings, some ancient and others modern but built in a strikingly traditional architecture, here you will feel as though you are in a true Provençal village. With beautiful gardens that feel welcoming and secretive at the same time, Capelongue is a place to restore your energy, to fully relax under the warm sun of Provence, and to enjoy the slow pace of life, whether it is lying by the lap pool, enjoying its spa, or having a memorable dinner with views over Bonnieux at either of its restaurants.

Spanning over 7 hectares, the property is a whole world in itself. With two restaurants, by the pool and in the Maison, this 19th-century manor house is an ode to pure refinement and an everlasting sense of heritage. Run by women who have been passing it down for three generations now, this boutique hotel is one of the most charming places you will encounter in the whole of Provence.

Le Moulin, as the name evokes, is a hotel that was born from an old mill that has been restored in the heart of one of the most picturesque villages in Provence - Lourmarin. Throughout the hotel, the decoration is warm and texturized, with a modern view of the typical countryside style, bringing inside the earthy colors of the surrounding landscape of the Luberon, from the ochres of Roussillon to the golden tones of the plains under the Summer Sun. The restaurant and bar at Le Moulin mirror the boutique hotel’s rhythm through the seasons, celebrating the natural evolution of local produce in Provençal classics, enjoyed either on the terrace or in the old milling room.

5: La Bastide de Marie

As you pass the pinetree-lined driveway, bordered by century-old olive trees, you will arrive at a beautiful countryhouse, tastefully decorated with antique furniture and a very rustic atmosphere, in the middle of a wine domaine, complete with its own winery. All around the property, you will find little enchanting corners, from the small lavender fields to the rose bushes that lead to the winery, or the restaurant terrace overlooking the vineyards and the hills in the distance. If you love quietude and the wine heritage of Provence, this is one of the most perfect places for your stay in the region.
