Beaches
Sardinia’s Top Beaches: An Essential Guide
Sardinia is celebrated for its pristine, turquoise waters and astounding limestone cliffs. While many remain protected reserves, here is exactly what you need to know before visiting some of the island's most emblematic beaches.
La Pelosa
: HOW TO BOOK
Because daily access to La Pelosa is limited, bookings are required and released at 8:00 AM two days in advance.
: WHAT TO PACK
Using a mat beneath your beach towel is mandatory, so to avoid significant fines, make sure to bring a non-fabric mat, or carry cash to purchase one from a local vendor.
: WHERE TO PARK
Arriving early in the morning is highly recommended to secure parking closer to the beach.
Cala Mariolu
: WHEN TO VISIT
Because there is a daily capacity of 700 people, an early morning arrival is highly recommended.
: HOW TO ACCESS
The beach is easily reached by boat or ferry, however, experienced hikers can choose to take a challenging 2.5-hour trail from the Golgo Plateau (Altopiano del Golgo).
: WHAT TO PACK
A small kiosk operates in summer, though it is strongly advised to bring your own food and water.
Cala Goloritzé
: HOW TO BOOK
Access requires a mandatory 7€ fee per person, with bookings becoming available 72 hours prior to your visit.
: HOW TO ACCESS
Accessing the beach requires a 1.5-hour hike down the valley, along a trail open from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, though an early start is essential to avoid the midday heat.
: WHAT TO PACK
Because no restaurants or bars are available at the beach, it is recommend to bring at least 2 liters (60 oz) of water and snacks, as well as hiking shoes, to easily navigate the access to the beach.
Cala Luna
: HOW TO ACCESS
While the beach is reachable by ferry from Cala Gonone, or via a 2-hour hike from Cala Fuili, those arriving by ferry are restricted to a 3-hour stay, making a private taxi boat or the return hike better choices for a longer visit.
: WHERE TO PARK
If you opt for the 2-hour hike, arriving early at Cala Fuili is essential, as off street parking is limited and the morning temperatures are far more favorable for the hike.
: WHAT TO PACK
It is strongly advised to wear hiking shoes and bring water with you, as the Mediterranean heat can become significantly abrasive during the peak summer months.
