Must-Visit Villas & Gardens on the Amalfi Coast
Dramatic views of the Mediterranean Sea, historical landmarks, and meticulously crafted scenes intertwine within these villas and gardens on the Amalfi Coast.
Giardini di Augusto
Giardini di Augusto is a small, yet essential stop located on the south side of Capri town. Situated right on the cliff edges, it offers several delightful viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the rugged cliffs, and the boats anchored in the bay. Most notably, the garden presents exceptional views of the iconic Faraglioni rock formations and the impressive south coast of the island. While it is quite small, Giardini di Augusto is adequately priced and well worth the detour to enjoy the beautiful landscapes.
Villa Cimbrone
Situated on the southernmost tip of Ravello, right at the edge of the cliffs, lies Villa Cimbrone, an outstanding and meticulously crafted property. Its precisely planned gardens include romantic features like the Rose Terrace and the Temple of Bacchus. The villa is most renowned for the Terrace of Infinity, which is widely considered to offer some of the most striking views of the bright Mediterranean Sea.
Villa Rufolo
A historical 13th-century property located in the center of Ravello, originally built by a wealthy merchant family and later renovated in the late 19th century. Its gardens famously inspired Richard Wagner’s earthly depiction of the Klingsor gardens in his work “Parsifal", and today, it hosts the annual Ravello Music Festival, on a stage that appears to hang above the Mediterranean. For the most beautiful, panoramic views of the town and coastline, climb the main tower and discover the garden's intricate and astonishing architecture.
