1: PRAIA DA FALÉSIA
Striking cliffs and carved ravines name this esteemed beach near Faro
Between rugged cliffs and a vast stretch of sandy beaches in the central Algarve lies Praia da Falésia. The conspicuous cliffs carved by the wind and rain shape what is considered the most emblematic feature of Praia da Falésia.
Stretching for almost 4 miles / 6km between the town of Olhos d’Água and nearly to Quarteira, the water is typically calm above the sanded sea bottom. The dense pine vegetation afar topping the ravines and cliffs, add the untarnished beauty that distinguishes the South of Portugal.
2: PRAIA DA BORDEIRA

Praia da Bordeira is a staple amidst the array of beaches in Southern Portugal. Located along the Vicentine Coast, it is characterized by its vast bay and broad extents of sand in the ocean’s stead. The large field of sand and the rough winds blown from the Atlantic, shape low dunes across the beach. Bordeira features a small water stream running through the beach to the sea.
3: Praia da Cacela Velha
Just across from the village of Cacela Velha, this beach stretches along a narrow sandy spit within the eastern reaches of the Ria Formosa
When the tide recedes, it is possible to wade from the mainland through the shallow lagoon directly to the shore. Once the tide rises, however, the channel deepens and traversing on foot is no longer possible. Alternatively, local fishermen shuttle visitors from the mainland by boat, or if preferred, you can reach the beach on foot from nearby Manta Rota. Since crossing from the village depends on the timing of the low tide, this allows you to enjoy a peaceful day while experiencing both the shoreline and the local village.
4: Praia de Odeceixe
One of the most emblematic beaches in Portugal, Odeceixe is a remarkable sight to the eye
Its form offers a delightful opportunity for the adventurous, as well as the more cautions, making it the perfect option for families with children. The river-side provides calm waters, while the waves of the Atlantic offer a rougher sea for those who love to surf and dive into the ocean. The beach is easily accessible from the village, however, if you enjoy a good hike, consider driving along the dirt road on the north-margin of the Seixe river and hike towards the cliffs, to witness the best views of the beach.
