3 Unique Boutiques in Paris for Custom-Made Shopping

Paris Explore:

Paris is home to some of the most exquisite stores from renowned brands and fashion houses, but these three boutiques stand out for their offering of personalized experiences that blend tradition with craftsmanship and character.

Ogata

  • Glass pots with infusions, on top of a table facing a stone wall.
  • A tea store interior with stone walls, a wood table and counter, with glass shelves and glass pots in the back.
  • Glass pots with infusions on glass shelves, next to a stone wall.
  • A hand pressing tea on a black base, on top of a stone counter.

Discretely located in the vibrant Le Marais is OGATA - a place to connect with the Japanese philosophy of the senses through food, tea, pâtisseries, fragrances, and design. One very special activity at OGATA is getting immersed in the craft of natural perfumes and scents, and preparing your customized YOKA - a fragrance made from a base inspired by one of the fundamental elements of Asian culture (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water), and complemented by scents best chosen to create your own personal perfume. Your scent profile is created based on a conversation with an OGATA specialist about your preferences in smells. In the end, you get your own solid fragrance, which you can reorder from your unique recipe in the future.

If you are a fan of tea, you must stay for tea time. From 11 am to 6 pm, at the SABO tea salon, you can undertake a true journey through Tea and explore their different Tea Time Menus. On the weekends exclusively, you can also taste a Japanese-inspired brunch from 11 am to 2 pm.

Conservatoire des Hémisphères

Stepping into a Conservatoire des Hémisphères boutique is like entering a new realm of traditional charm. The Marais location is a special favorite of mine, as it feels almost like stepping into an 18th-century apothecary, with interiors framed by wooden shelves holding golden brass pots, filled with a diverse selection of teas and infusions. Inside, you are invited to explore each fragrance at your own pace. Much like a warm cup of tea, the team encourages you to savour the experience peacefully, without any urgency. Once you have made your selection, they prepare it with the utmost care, wrapping it in elegant, timeless packaging, making it a true treasure to cherish.

Officine Universelle

  • Little leather bags and cases, inside a yellow velvet wooden drawer.
  • Glass covers and stone pots on wooden shelves, with velvet yellow interiors.
  • Red and blue antique like bottles of beauty products, in front of a velvet yellow wall, on a wooden shelving.
  • A store's façade, with wooden panels and rims, and a green stone paneling.

Much like the soulful grace and old charm of Conservatoire, Officine Universelle is an otherworldly establishment, with great character and a profound spirit. Elegantly driven by the seasonal flair, Officine's aromas are uncanny, and there is a great attention to detail that is seldom seen in today's world, making this boutique a singular experience in itself. Their mouth balm is exquisitely housed within a leather case, carefully customized with your own initials. This is an experience I will forever hold dear, and one I truly suggest you gift to yourself.
